Distilled from the harvest of vineyards on Ile de Ré off the French Atlantic coast, this VSOP does a convincing job of showing off the islandís terroir with sea air and minerals on the nose. The palate is fresher than what typically comes to mind with a cognac, brushed with broad strokes of damp earth, loam, moss, clay, and dried orange peels on a generous finish. A fun exercise in terroir that brings to mind Dalmore for those of us who enjoy coastal single malts.
